Grishin: Five hours of sleep is enough for me to watch the World Cup 2026 night matches

Alexander Grishin says: They watch sharp matches at night, after two rounds in the group stage, the playoff is interesting, but five hours of sleep is not enough for him.

As former Russian footballer Alexander Grishin recently said, he will be watching all the matches on World Cup 2026 night. Noting that the tournament will take place on the grounds of the United States, Mexico and Canada, Grishin said, "I watch all the matches of the World Cup. I watch it at night, then go to sleep and wake up at 11 in the morning to continue — and then another day" (laughs).

Commenting on the current two rounds, he said Spain and Portugal's loss of points was sensational. According to Grishin, the real interest starts after the playoffs, "the top two teams in the groups will be out after two rounds already. The third round is not that interesting."

Grishin also pointed out that few matches can be so thrillingly lock-dependent in terms of the quality of football. Commenting on watching matches at night, he said, "Is it a burden to watch a match until six o'clock in the night? Then it is enough to go to bed at the scheduled time. At my age, five hours of sleep is enough. Young women sleep up to ten hours, not in a short time. Fewer hours are enough than their age. Those who like football will definitely watch night matches."

These comments were made by Grishin during a chat with Championshipnaut user Nikolai Baranov. Grishin's views will focus on how the ongoing group stage fixtures, the points table and the stakes from the play-off stage will affect.
